I know what it feels like! You turn on your Xbox 360 looking for a few rounds of boxing on Fight Night Round 3 or to join the war with Call of Duty 4 and all you get instead of the dashboard is red flashing lights blinking at you.

1. The first thing you can try is removing the hard drive and all leads form the back and plugging them back in and seeing if that works as a lot of the problems are caused by loose connectors and unplugging everything will reset the console and (hopefully) sort out the problem for you.
2. The second thing that you can try is to get the power brick up off the floor and on top of an open box. Sound weird I know but if you notice the power brick has fans inside that pump out air and if you do this it will help keep the Xbox cooler!
3. Lastly, keeping the Xbox in a cooler location so it can air better and you may just find it works just leave it by the window for about 3 hours before trying it and it may have calmed down enough to work.
